A last-minute decision, but well worth the drive. Car loaded with plants for the show as well as empty crates for the hidden gems I was hoping to find on my journey.

A two-day drive to Johannesburg naturally involves a detour to Graaff Reinet; the obvious choice for a plant nut like myself. En-route, I stopped at one of my favourite succulent and cacti nurseries, Obesa, where I was not disappointed with the display. Car fuller and pockets lighter, I continued my journey to Johannesburg, happy with my new-found treasures.

The show was held at the Botanical Society, Emmarentia Dam on the 10th and 11th of September 2016.

Lots of space and time for show plant exhibitors to display their beauties as well as space for vendors to sell plants. It was great to see some familiar faces as well as some new like-minded fanatic friends. A number of plants on show with a couple of my own on display. I was pleased to leave with two second and one, first place ribbon.
